"Wouldn't it be great if I could do something for Hong Kong refugees?"

After an event that I accidentally learnt about Hong Kong refugees, all of the emotions, empathy and compassion come up. I felt the strong need to do something. That's how I started planning and applying for this project named Cultural Splash on refugees, and later on received the school’s Global Student Project Fund.

While raising the awareness of the refugees issues and promoting intercultural understanding among students and refugees, Cultural Splash is certainly a project that made me proud - the power of a team of 4 young girls who turned their events from ideas into valuable memories, meaningful lessons and big smiles for everyone at the events. Those were what counted to me.

As the project leader, not only did I have to find the right people to build a team, but also I had to take the lead throughout the project ideation, coordination and execution of the project. Those were really good experiences to hone my leadership skills and applied what I learnt from an extra-curricular course about event management.

Besides, under effective communication, I invited Christian Action (a local NGO) to partner with us throughout the project to participate their clients in our events. The experiences of establishing relationship and collaborating with an organization to work on the common goal were uplifting.
